Chapter 1 — The Shattered Covenant Entry area: (2,2). Objective: Oath ledger at (17,2). Hidden threat: Debt Collector Ysra at (17,11). Trap: Binding coin circle at (16,10). Ysra wants a stolen debt erased, not a massacre. The ledger names the caravan carrying the first vow. Copying it takes one adjacent action; bargaining with Ysra and offering restitution also secures it. Ysra attacks with a chain at range 2: d20+3 against Defense, 4 damage, or spends her action warning that the market will be sealed in three rounds. At 12 Health she retreats and will trade information for safe passage. The coin circle is spotted with Mind 11; crossing it requires Spirit 11 or 2 damage. Success points to the Rootroad Causeway. If the ledger is destroyed, a stallkeeper supplies the route in return for a future favor. DM procedure: reveal threats when the fiction calls for it. Choose one listed main action per enemy turn; dice, damage, timers, sight and special effects are human-adjudicated. Checklist completion records the DM’s ruling and does not award items automatically.
